Managers'/Coaches' Code of Ethics
Renton Little League (RLL) managers and coaches must be leaders.
All must recognize that they hold a position of trust and responsibility
in a program that deals with a sensitive and formative period of a
child’s development. It is required that the manager and coach have
understanding, patience, desire and commitment to work with children.
The manager and coach should be able to inspire respect. Above all else,
managers and coaches must realize that they are helping to shape the
physical, mental and emotional development of young people. As a leader
in the development of the children of our community, coaches of Renton
Little League will adhere to the following Code of Ethics:
- I recognize that my coaching commitment includes attending
coaching/rules clinics and other mandatory meetings.
- I will place the emotional and physical well being of my players
ahead of a personal desire to win.
- I will treat each player as an individual, remembering the large
range of emotional and physical development for the same group.
- I will provide a safe environment for my players.
- I will review and practice the basic first aid principles needed
to treat injuries of my players.
- I will conduct practices that are both fun and instructional.
- I will provide a sports environment for my team that is free of
drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, and I will refrain from their use at
all RLL youth sports events.
- I will learn and abide by the rules of the game and the league,
and I will teach these rules to my players.
- I will remember that I am a youth sports coach, and that the
game is for children and not adults.
- I will be an example of good sportsmanship by displaying a respectful,
positive attitude toward my players, opponents, umpires, spectators,
and other coaches.
- I will never use profanity or vulgar language or vulgar jesters.
